Suicide Prevention Coordinator

Fixed term full time contract to 30 June 2019

The suicide prevention coordinator will work with relevant service providers at a regional and local level to support the development and implementation of programs that increase local community and service provider capacity to identify and respond to suicidal ideation and related behaviour in an appropriate manner, reduce stigmatising behaviour towards mental health and support services and community in post-venation responses.           

The role of the coordinator will be to:
  • initiate, coordinate, manage and support the development, implementation and evaluation of suicide prevention, intervention and postvention activity targeted at a local, community and regional level in designated regions of WA
  • build the capacity of the community and relevant service providers to enable them to identify and address local suicide-related issues through evidence based prevention activity

Aboriginal Youth Worker

Fixed term full time contract to 30 June 2018

This job description has been developed in consultation with and endorsed by local Noongar Elders. The project aims to support Aboriginal people and their communities in the Great Southern Region of WA to reduce the harms associated with alcohol and other drug use through evidence-based treatment, support and community development.  Reporting to the branch coordinator and working in partnership the Elders’ Advisory Group, the project officer is responsible for the delivery of the two key objectives of the program as they relate to Aboriginal young people: community engagement and capacity building as well as facilitating treatment and support to young Aboriginal people (12 years to 24 years) and their families.
