Counsellor/Educator (AOD) 

Location:  Palmerston Perth 

One Fixed Term Part time contract (38 hours per fortnight) until 01/07/2023.

About the role

Based at Palmerston Perth the Counsellor/Educator  provides assessment, counselling and referral for clients seeking residential rehabilitation at Palmerston Farm Therapeutic Community (TC).

About you

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of drug and alcohol issues, particularly co-morbid mental health and AOD issues, impacting on the health of individuals and their families.
  • Demonstrated skills in assessment and a knowledge of the therapeutic communities would be an advantage
  • Willingness to develop an understanding of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal family systems.
  • Highly developed organisational skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or demonstrated study towards such qualifications.
  • Experience of conducting assessment and referrals, and counselling.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to current disability services, equal opportunity and occupational safety and health issues.
  • Computer literacy skills.
