Palmerston recognises that when alcohol and other drug use becomes problematic, it is not only the individual who is affected. Partners, friends and family members experience their own difficulties in understanding what is happening and what they can or should do. People often feel afraid and powerless and may find it helpful to speak with a counsellor or with someone who has been through a similar experience.

At Palmerston, anyone affected by alcohol or other drugs can avail themselves of our counselling services including family counselling. We also offer family support groups.

Contact any of our branches to find out how we can support you.

“I loved the courage of the people sharing their personal stories, I loved the honesty. I felt that it was great to be amongst other families who are feeling the same and we don’t need to be alone, best to share with others”. – Susan

Family counselling involves family members meeting together with a counsellor to discuss the difficulties faced by the family in relation to alcohol and other drug use. All family members are encouraged and welcome to attend family counselling.
