The STEPS (Steps to Exiting Prison Successfully) Program is a partnership between Palmerston Association and the South West Aboriginal Medical Service, funded by the Department of Justice.
The program aims to provide alcohol and other drug (AOD) care in an individualised and holistic manner that works towards participants successful re-integration to the community.
The program provides on-going throughcare support to ensure continuity of care. The program aims to facilitate opportunities for participants to restore relationships with their family, community, and culture. Located in Bunbury Regional Prison, this voluntary program is aimed at males aged 18+ from all cultural backgrounds.
The program offers a safe, healthy, supportive and respectful place to recover and make positive lasting changes that will support people in their life outside of prison. The program will also focus on helping them to prepare for a solid and safe return back to the community and in reconnecting with their supports outside.
The program is for clients from all cultures and backgrounds who are motivated to break the cycle of drug and alcohol addictions and take some new steps forward in life.
The program is voluntary so you will need to apply to join and be willing to participate in all the different parts of the program.
Interested participants should speak to their Department of Justice Case Management Coordinator for more information about being assessed as suitable for the program.
